Glen Burnie man charged in shooting, domestic assault

Anne Arundel County police have charged a 44-year-old Glen Burnie man with attempted second-degree murder and assault in connection with a domestic violence incident Thursday night in Linthicum.

David William Wright of the 100 block of Linwood Ave. was located on Andover Road, after police said he fled the home of the woman he is accused of shooting. Police were called at 11:23 p.m. to the woman's home in the 800 block of White Ave. in Linthicum.

They found the 59-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower chest. The victim told police that she and the suspect had become involved in an argument that escalated, when he assaulted her. She grabbed a handgun in an effort to defend herself and force the suspect from the home, police said. The suspect wrested the gun from the victim, who police say was his girlfriend, threw her to the floor and shot her. Another man, who is a resident of the home, confronted the suspect and injured him before he fled, police said.

The victim and the suspect were both taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where the woman remained Friday, police said. The suspect was treated and released. He remains in custody at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

Wright also faces charges of use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime and reckless endangerment.
