Smitten with the kitchen -- Vic Carter

WJZ-TV anchorman and county resident.

"As the only boy in a family with four girls, my mother was insistent that I be able to take care of every aspect of my life, including feeding myself. She showed me how to prepare dishes, shop on a budget and make the best use of the vegetables we grew in our garden in Radford, Va. I was enamored by TV chefs, who expanded my palate beyond traditional Southern cooking.

"My Old Bay Limoncello Shrimp was recently featured with Michelle Obama and other celebrities in an American Red Cross cookbook. I am a foodie, and I eat a meal with a goal of deciphering it and then recreating it in my home."
