A delegate from Montgomery County, Heather Mizeur was active in the push for marriage equality and has worked to restrict hydraulic fracturing in Maryland. She graduated from the University of Illinois and worked for several years on Capitol Hill, including a stint as director of domestic policy for Sen. John Kerry. She is a former Takoma Park councilwoman and is a member of the Democratic National Committee.
Advantages: Ms. Mizeur would be the only woman in the race. She is also gay, and given the approval of gay marriage at the ballot box in November, that likely counts more as an advantage than a liability.
