Starting pitcher Jake Arrieta

Arrieta was arguably the team's best starting pitcher in 2011, but the 27-year-old flopped a season ago. He struggled early in the year, spent some time in the minor leagues and finished the season in the bullpen. He is in the mix for the fifth and final spot in the Orioles rotation, and his 3.11 strikeout-per-walk ratio and his 4.05 Fielding Independent Rating (FIP) from a season ago suggest that the right-hander might return to his pre-2012 form.
