The bottom line

The Orioles were really feeling good about themselves as they pecked away at <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT006420" title="C.C. Sabathia" href="/topic/sports/baseball/c.c.-sabathia-PESPT006420.topic">CC Sabathia</a> on Saturday night, but appear to have gotten some of the starch knocked out of them when the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000205" title="New York Yankees" href="/topic/sports/baseball/new-york-yankees-ORSPT000205.topic">Yankees</a> ace broke Markakis' thumb with a pitch. They got slapped around Sunday and will need to collect themselves for a very important series against the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000221" title="Tampa Bay Rays" href="/topic/sports/baseball/tampa-bay-rays-ORSPT000221.topic">Rays</a>. Still, all in all, it was a pretty good week, and standing just one game out of first place in the tough <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT00000154" title="American League East" href="/topic/sports/baseball/american-league-east-ORSPT00000154.topic">AL East</a> on Sept. 10 isn't anything to be ashamed of.<br>
