SPECIAL TEAMS

Billy Cundiff and Sam Koch (right) gave the Ravens a big boost last week as Cundiff nailed two long field goals and Koch averaged a 49.3 yards per punt and did a great job of pinning in Jacoby Jones. After allowing a 60-yard kickoff return to Danieal Manning to start the game, the Ravens' coverage units, which struggled for most of the regular season, were flawless the rest of the way and even forced a fumble that led to Kris Wilson's first-quarter touchdown. The Patriots also have gotten a strong performance from their kicking duo. Second-year punter Zoltan Mesko (left) was tied for 10th in the NFL with Koch, averaging 46.5 yards per punt. Kicker Stephen Gostkowski made 28 of his 33 field goals, though he only had two attempts from beyond 50 yards. Only five teams allowed fewer yards per kickoff return than the Patriots did and their punt return coverage unit was also ranked in the top half of the league. Matthew Slater, the Patriots' top special teams player, was selected to the Pro Bowl. Julian Edelman is their primary punt returner while Woodhead returns kicks. Tom Zbikowski and Lardarius Webb handle those duties for the Ravens. EDGE: PATRIOTS
