March 1, 1995: Gary Williams was in a hospital room back in Maryland with pneumonia, and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski was recuperating at home after missing most of the season following back surgery. Led by sophomore star Joe Smith, who scored a career-high 41 points and tipped in the game-winner at the buzzer, the No. 8 Terps won 94-92. "I just felt it was my night," said Smith, who would be the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft later that year. "I could see that their big guys were getting tired, so I told the fellas to get me the ball." Said teammate Exree Hipp, "Superman was in the building tonight."
