You probably have heard about the Boston Tea Party, but did you know that there was one in Maryland too? Chestertown has been celebrating this 1774 rebellion for 37 years with its annual Tea Party Festival, featuring a re-enactment, raft race and parade. Recently the festival has added a wine tasting and cocktail party, "Toss the Tory" competition, live music, and local artisans to the event.
The Chestertown Tea Party Festival starts May 23 at 5 p.m. and runs through May 25 at 6 p.m. A full schedule is available online at chestertownteaparty.org. Individual events may require tickets, which are available the day of the event.
