One minute, everything was fine. The next, trees were down everywhere and some 675,000 BGE customers were without power. When the derecho hit in the middle of summer, no one even knew what that word meant. But we learned. After that, Sandy seemed like a drop in the bucket -- at least for this state. A mere 338,000 lost power when the superstorm blew through in late October.
