Like/Dislike: James Nasty, Baltimore club DJ and producer

For the past two years, James Nasty has co-hosted the Physical Education dance party at Ottobar each Friday, spinning everything from Basement Boys to Future Islands. This Friday, Nasty will not only host TT the Artist’s birthday party at Ottobar, but he’ll be shooting footage for his first music video. His sets are eclectic, so it’s no surprise his answers for Like/Dislike are, too.

What’s on your iPod?
Rye Rye’s latest mixtape, RYEOT POWRR, with the homie, DJ Sega, Hall and Oates’ Greatest Hits and the new LMFAO album, Sorry For Party Rocking. I also put tunes I have in the works on my iPod.

Last concert you went to?
I’ve caught three amazing shows this summer. Odd Future at Sonar, N.E.R.D. at Sonar and G Love & Special Sauce at Artscape.

Last movie you saw and liked?
“Get Him to the Greek” on DVD. That may be the only time in my life that I was into something Diddy (or whatever his name is now) was involved in.

Favorite book you recently read?
I recently reread “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. That’s one of the books I never actually read in high school and cheated on quizzes to get by. But since I’ve grown up, I’ve read it a couple times and enjoy it.

Last great meal you had?
Getting breakfast/dinner at Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point after my Friday night party, Physical Education, has become a regular tradition. They make the best breakfast food in the city. I recommend the Country Scramble or the Sweet Baby Jesus.

Favorite place to get a drink?
If I want to go somewhere close to home where I can just chill, I’ll go to Midtown Yacht Club.

Show you compulsively DVR?
I don’t own a TV anymore. I discovered how to watch sports on the Internet. I get my news from, and from following local news stations on Twitter. I don’t actually need a TV. I’m not home enough to watch it anyway.

Favorite store?
PedEx in Fells Point, DTLR, Village Thrift on North Ave. and anywhere I can buy a fresh pack of white T-shirts.
