Dec. 23: Eli Manning, New York Giants
The measureables: 6-4, 218 pounds, 9th season. The numbers: 359 of 589 completions (61 percent), 4,933 yards, 29 TDs, 16 INTs, 92.9 rating in 2011. Against the Ravens: (1-1) 17 of 41 completions (41.5 percent), 180 yards, 1TD, 3 INTs, 32.6 rating. The challenge: Often overlooked due to the presence of his older brother, Manning is sometimes regarded as the third-best passer in the NFC East, trailing Vick and Romo. But Manning is more than willing to sacrifice flash for substance, and his numbers prove that. He owns several NFL records, including marks for the most touchdown passes in the fourth quarter in a season (15) and the most road playoff wins by a quarterback (five). And the younger Manning has two Super Bowl rings, which is double what his older brother has despite gaudier statistics. As the reigning Super Bowl champions, Manning & Co. won¿t be flying under the radar this season. The quote: ¿He¿s been in that system for a long time, and he knows where the ball has to go and what the defense does. He¿s got a little bit of his brother in him where he¿s hard to blitz because he gets the ball out fast. The quarterbacks that know defenses and can read defenses and know when the blitz is coming and can get the ball out fast, it makes it tough to get pressure on them, and I think he¿s done a nice job of that.¿ ¿ Ravens strong safety Sean Considine who has a pass defensed and a fumble recovery in eight games against Eli Manning.
