Steele Stanwick, attackman, Virginia (10-2) Stanwick sits third nationally in points per game. The Loyola grad is 40th all time in Division I points and climbing weekly. He has the Cavaliers in the hunt for consecutive NCAA titles. His eyes are on the prize and always up. "Steele is constantly surveying the field," says Virginia coach Dom Starsia. "He knows where his playmakers are at all times. It's like a seasoned chess player who knows his move five moves ahead." Stanwick is known for his clutch performances. "Steele is the Reggie Jackson of the Virginia Cavaliers," says Starsia. "However, the similarities end there with Mr. October because Steele is too humble to ever recognize such a fact." Stanwick's ability to diagnose defensive formations sets him apart. He also has a deep understanding of the rules. "There have been times throughout his career that his deep-rooted knowledge of the rulebook has prompted summits between officials at Steele's urging for the correct call in uncommon situations," says Starsia.
