1970: Pitcher Norman Yokely

Layman Norman Yokely was considered one of the greatest pitchers ever, compared to <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT005626" title="Satchel Paige" href="/topic/sports/satchel-paige-PESPT005626.topic">Satchel Paige</a>, <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT002206" title="Bob Feller" href="/topic/sports/bob-feller-PESPT002206.topic">Bob Feller</a> and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PESPT002828" title="Lefty Grove" href="/topic/sports/lefty-grove-PESPT002828.topic">Lefty Grove</a>. After playing for Baltimore and a number of other Negro League teams, he retired and opened a shoeshine parlor on Pennsylvania Avenue.
