Mike Nieberding, Cathy Connor and Barbara Taylor attended the party.Emotions were high at Howard County General Hospital's 40th Anniversary Ball. While the focus of the party was on the hospital's 40 years of growth and service to Howard County, it was difficult for many of the guests not to note that this was the last gala for Vic Broccolino as president and CEO, after announcing his plans to retire early next year. "Some of these folks I'll be seeing for the very last time. A lot of my top-notch board members are leaving this year as well. So it's super-bittersweet for me," said Broccolino, who was also the party's honoree with wife Tina. "The hospital itself does so many wonderful things. But Vic's always at the center of the hospital," said Brian Walter, market president of M&T Bank's Chesapeake region. Evelyn Bolduc -- the event co-chair with husband J.P. and Cathy and Harry "Chip" Lundy -- tried to keep the focus on the hospital with humor. "Vic's here until January, so there will be plenty of time to celebrate -- and roast -- him then," she said.
