Waiting and wondering about Bundy

Dylan Bundy was not particularly overpowering in his first start at High-A Frederick, but it's way too early to draw any conclusions about where he'll eventually end up this year. There has been talk since spring training about him possibly helping the major league club during the second half of the season, but it might be a mistake for the Orioles to get ahead of themselves and rush him to the majors as soon as he looks like he can get big league hitters out. What everyone seems to forget is that Bundy has pitched a grand total of 1 2/3 innings at the major league level, and that was two years ago. The kid is still just 21 years old, and the long layoff after Tommy John elbow ligament reconstruction surgery is just more reason to make sure he spends adequate time climbing back up the ladder in the minor leagues. That, and the fact that the Orioles actually could have a starter surplus in the second half, probably mean it'll be spring training before we see Bundy competing for a place in the Orioles rotation.
