Daphne Taranto, 19 - a MICA sophomore with a double major in art history and general fine arts - mixes patterns a lot in a style she describes as "pretty clean." When she attended the MICA Annual Benefit Fashion Show, the New York City native showed how she does that even when she's dressed very casually. She wore a navy and white St. James knit top from Paris that was a gift. She paired that with some skinny Levi jeans that were hand-me-downs from a friend. Her Timberland boots, "I stole from my sister," she confessed. Her teal and taupe scarf from Italy was another gift. She picked up her olive military jacket at a thrift store and her Timex watch at a yard sale. Her brown cross-body/shoulder bag came from Madewell. Taranto says her favorite designers are Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler. "As young designers in New York City, you can really see the impact of their design aesthetic in how everyone [there] dresses," she said.
