J. Kristie Johnson, Ph.D., D(ABMM) Associate Director, Clinical Microbiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, shows Henry Belsky, Pikesville, a nasal test kit. The University of Maryland Medical Center will begin using the Luminex Respiratory Viral Panel to screen babies very rapidly for 10 infectious diseases by analyzing a nasal swab sample. He is on the board of the R Baby Foundation and has donated money to the hospital. His granddaughter, Rebecca, was born prematurely and died of a viral infection.
