J. Kristie Johnson, Ph.D., D(ABMM) Associate Director, Clinical Microbiology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, talks with Henry and Brenda Belsky, Pikesville. The University of Maryland Medical Center will begin using the Luminex Respiratory Viral Panel to screen babies very rapidly for 10 infectious diseases by analyzing a nasal swab sample. The Belskys have donated money to the hospital through the R Baby Foundation. Their granddaughter, Rebecca, was born prematurely and died of a viral infection.
