Opened in 1903, the Owl Bar is a fitting place to enjoy a Manhattan, says manger Averil Barry.
"It's classic simplicity, which is a perfect fit for Owl Bar's classic nature," Barry said.
While the textbook Manhattan typically uses rye, the Owl Bar uses Woodford Reserve, a 90-proof small bourbon whiskey from Kentucky with a woody flavor and a smoothness that masks its potency.
Owl Bar's recipe
3 ounces Woodford Reserve bourbon
1 ounce Martini & Rossi sweet vermouth
1 dash of Angostura bitters
Pour contents into a shaker. Shake and serve up in a chilled martini glass.
