Glimpsed at the Art of Conversation: Khadija Harris

When Khadija Harris, 29, came to the Art of Conversation's Poetry Open Mic night at Peace & A Cup of Joe, the poet/model/E-ZPass customer service representative made an impression that went beyond the poetry she performed. The Woodlawn resident also showed her creativity in her personal sense of fashion. Harris wore a matte gold sequin-covered tank with black leggings -- both from <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORCRP016728" title="The Wet Seal Incorporated" href="/topic/business/the-wet-seal-incorporated-ORCRP016728.topic">Wet Seal</a>. Then she added leopard print wedges from Burlington Coat Factory, a khaki clutch from Payless, and jewelry -- a black feather necklace, gold and pink crystal stretch cuff and black crystal chandeliers -- from Forever 21. This poet doesn't mince words when describing her style. "It's flashy and colorful," Harris says. "I like a lot of gold. I always have a lot of jewelry and accessories. In fact, this is minimal for me."
