Glimpsed at Work: Leigh Spatafore

As a junior designer at Hobo Bags, Leigh Spatafore, 26, has to think outside of the box in coming up with new handbag designs. The Pasadena resident is also not afraid to do the same when it comes to her own "adventurous" style. "I'll try anything once, fashion-wise. That's one place I'm not afraid." Nor should she be, when the outcome is like this. At the company's new headquarters in Annapolis Junction, Spatafore shows off her "hipster, artsy" side in a dark blue chambray Madewell shirt over a black jersey camisole and a chiffon "flowy" mini from Forever 21. "Ten dollars! That's where I go for my trendy-trendy stuff." Her multi-color enamel flower Betsey Johnson necklace was a gift from her mom. "This is the epitome of me: the colors, everything mixed." She found the matching Betsey Johnson black metal, pearl bead drop earrings with black gingham bows at Nordstrom Rack. Her leopard pony hair Nina peep toe wedge booties ("or fabulousness, as I call them") were South Moon Under finds. She picked up her stretch crystal bangles at a beach shop in Rehoboth. Her neon orange bead bracelet is actually a J. "It was my first big purchase." Her brown metallic fringe suede "Blaze" bag comes from Hobo's holiday collection. When it comes to fashion rules, this designer knows just how to bend a few in her favor. "I love Coco Chanel. But she says, you should take a look in the mirror [at what you're wearing] and take one thing off. I say, put more on. More is more."
