What do you do when you work at a place that's about looking your best, but where the dress code is black? You look your best in black. At least, that's what Karen Higgins, 48, does as patient coordinator at The Cosmetic Surgery Center of Maryland. The Glen Burnie resident loves "to do the pinstripe thing, if I can, because it breaks it up." When we "glimpsed" Higgins at her Towson office, she was wearing a black pinstriped Bisou Bisou suit from JCPenney that featured a ruched shawl collar, fold-back cuffs and an asymmetrically ruffled mermaid skirt. She'd found her black point-toe knee high boots at the Nine West outlet and her large multi-color pearl necklace from a "funky little jewelry store in downtown Frederick." She's had her silver bangle since high school, and her Rolex watch was a 40th birthday gift. Higgins says she maintains her style -- "classic with a flair" -- by accessorizing. However, the one fashion accessory she's never without? "Lip gloss. No matter what you're doing -- whether you're at the gym or you're out -- it makes you look healthy and fresh."
