Aug. 22: Rangers 13, Orioles 2

The Rangers' parting shot in their season series was another roundhouse right. Adrian Beltre homered three times, and the fourth inning was the Orioles' ugliest of the year. Texas rallied for nine runs in that inning, including a grand slam by Mitch Moreland and two two-run homers by Beltre. Former Ranger Tommy Hunter was again hit hard. He faced eight batters in the fourth and he didn't retire any of them. The talk after the game was about moving on from another tough series against the Rangers and keeping their eyes on the ultimate goal. "We are playing with house money. We're not supposed to be where we are," Orioles first baseman Mark Reynolds said that night. "We're just going to go -- all out the rest of the way and see what happens. See where we are at the end of the day. Everyone in here wants to get to the postseason, and obviously that's our goal now." Six weeks later, they've accomplished that goal. Now it's going to take surviving that tortuous lineup in a one-game playoff to keep this magical season alive.
