Whale 3d print

Vince Rossi with the Smithsonian Institution Digitization Program Office is pictured next to a fossil whale about 5 million years old. He scanned it with a 3D laser in the Atacama dessert in Chile. The actual whale is 25 feet long. This 3D whale fossil will be printed on a 1-to-1 scale (at 25 feet) and when completed, will be the largest museum-quality 3D print in the world. The American Alliance of Museums Conference at the Baltimore Convention Center has displays on 3D printing.Algerina Perna, Baltimore Sun
