Anderson's death stirred passions in East Baltimore after he was taken to the ground by police and died from blunt force trauma injuries. His relatives and activists,, including the Rev. Cortly "C.D." Witherspoon, above, are calling for criminal charges, saying the case illustrates broader police brutality complaints. They have criticized what they see as inaction on the part of authorities. The initial police claims that Anderson may have died from choking on drugs - which were later determined to be incorrect - have only clouded concerns about the investigation. New Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts made visiting Anderson's family one of his first actions as commissioner, and prosecutors are contemplating whether the officers will be charged.
