1. Sum up Artscape? That’s one of the best things about it — you can’t. Especially since this is the free arts festival blowout’s 30th year (celebrating everything 1980s, which we assume you love).
And, of course, there’s the usual greatness: street performers, the cooler-than-cool alt-Midway, the unique vendors. Oh, and Matisyahu and Fantasia. We haven’t even scratched the surface. Noon-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon-8 p.m. Sunday; centered on Mount Royal Avenue and North Charles Street. artscape.org
2.‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’
Something wicked this way ends. Say goodbye to Harry and the rest of the wizarding world as they take their final bow in the film series that has charmed us for 10 years. That’s a lot of Alan Rickman brooding. Opens with midnight screenings Thursday (if you were lucky enough to snag a ticket) and wide Friday.
A series of short-track races (promoted as “bar banging action”), launching Friday and running through Aug. 12. Vroom-vroom. Practice 5 p.m., racing 7 p.m. Saturday. Timonium fairgrounds. $10. bctra.com 3. ‘Breaking Bad’ season premiere
AMC’s other acclaimed show (no, not that one. Or that one. Yeah, the drug-dealer one) returns for Season 4 after a riveting, violent finale (Jesse, no!). Emmy winners Brian Cranston and Aaron Paul are our TV gods. But not in a creepy way. 10 p.m. Sunday.
4. Lil Wayne
Weezy stopped by Baltimore in March, but we’ll gladly head down to Bristow, Va., (and utter the words “Jiffy Lube Live”) to take in his show with Rick Ross, Keri Hilson, Far East Movement and Lloyd. We’re anticipating a group sing-a-long to “How to Love.” Aww. 7 p.m. Saturday. $35.75-$175.75. livenation.com
5. M.A. in Community Arts Exhibition
MICA’s got a lot going on during Artscape, but we’re particularly interested in the “community-informed art” by graduating students who used their experiences out in the field (i.e.: the city) as inspiration for their work. Opens Monday, on view through July 30. Fox Building, Fox 3 Gallery, 1303 W. Mount Royal Ave. Free. mica.edu 6. Bastille Day at Ma Petite Shoe
Chocolate tastings, homemade crepes and multiple Marie Antoinette look-a-likes? Mais oui! 5-8 p.m. Thursday (store opens with a summer sale at 11 a.m.). 832 W. 36th St., Hampden. Free. mapetiteshoe.com 8. R.E.M., Life’s Rich Pageant, 25th Anniversary Edition
“Fall on Me.” “Superman.” “Cuyahoga.” Remasters, rare demos and B-sides. Plus Bill Berry’s epic eyebrows hypnotizing you from the album cover. Thanks for this gift, boys from Athens, Ga. Out now.
9. O’s v. Indians
Perhaps the battered O’s will leave the All-Star break feeling inspired and rejuvenated for this four-game series? We can only hope, since they face the Red Sox for three games right afterwards. Thursday-Sunday v. Indians; Monday-Wednesday v. Red Sox. Camden Yards. orioles.com 10. Animals Being Dicks
Hilarious GIFs of animals being totally rude to one another. Because they can. We never knew birds pushed turtles around. animalsbeingdicks.com
