Flo-Gris’ Wee Faerie Village Re-Creates ‘A Flutter In Time’

Wee Faerie Village, the charming annual tradition at the Florence Griswold Museum where local artists create tiny fairy houses all over the museum’s scenic riverfront property, returns Oct. 1 to 30 at the art space at 96 Lyme St. in Old Lyme.

This year’s theme is “A Flutter in Time,” and the 32 houses will be designed to resemble the architecture of certain cities during certain eras. Among them are 13th-century Paris, 9th-century Norway,

17th-century Holland, 18th-century Ireland, 7th-century American west, 17th-century India, 4th-century Turkey, 19th-century Denmark, 12th-century Italy, 18th-century Japan, 15th-century Peru and others.

Museum hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission during Wee Faerie Village is $15, $14 seniors, $13 students, $5 members. Children 12 and younger are free. The museum will hold a month of fairy-themed activities, including a visit from Mary Poppins, a Pirate Day, parties, performances, book discussions and craft activities.
