WWI Illustrations at NBMAA: Through Jan. 7

New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington St., in collaboration with the Connecticut State Library in Hartford and the New Britain Industrial Museum, present’s “Harry Everett Townsend: Illustrations of a World War I Artist” until Jan. 7. The exhibit is times to mark the 100-year anniversary of the entry of the United States into World War I.Townsend was one of eight official combat artists commissioned by the American Expeditionary Force to illustrate the war for the American public. He is considered the AEF,’s leading plane, tank, truck, and artillery illustrator.At the same time, The Connecticut State Library, 231 Capitol Ave., will present an installation of trench art at The Old State House in Hartford, which is made up of etchings on artillery shells and canteens. www.nbmaa.org.
