Immigrant Art in New London: Through Oct. 12

The Connecticut College Art Department will present work by Corina S. Alvarezdelugo, Rafael Colón, Guido Garaycochea, Mohamad Hafez, Tedman David Martínez Onofre, Nadine Renazile, and Pierre Sylvain in “Intersections: A Benefit Exhibition for the Immigration Advocacy and Support Center” from Sept. 5 to Oct. 12 in the College’s Cummings Arts Center Galleries.An artist reception will be held Sept. 23 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.The artists are immigrants from Peru, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Syria and now work in New London, Middletown, New Haven and New York. This is by Garaycochea.Alongside this exhibit, three art major alumni — Miles Ladin ’90, Juan Flores ’16, and Melissa Luen ’17 — will present work in Cummings’ 3rd floor gallery spaces.Hafez will give a lecture on Sept. 1, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m.
