The 2016 UConn Winter Puppet Slam features the Puerto Rican puppetry troupe Papel Machete, the Brooklyn-based Great Small Works (led by John Bell, director of UConn’s Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry), Zach Dorn from Florida and Hamden’s Kim Mikenis, plus new works by student and faculty puppeteers, an object performance by Printmaking Professor John O’Donnell, “sneak peeks” of the upcoming MFA Puppet Arts Festival and the a cappella ensemble The Rolling Tones.

The slam begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the university’s Studio Theatre, 820 Bolton Road, Storrs, Admission is free; “donations are greatly appreciated.” 860-486-8580, bimp.uconn.edu
