Wesleyan University Dance Department’s annual spring faculty dance concert takes on a theme of renewal this year.

“Storied Places: A Renaissance Project” features a collaboration among director and choreographer Nicole Stanton, composer Jay Hoggard, English professor Lois Brown (who narrates the performance) and scenographer L’Merchie Frazier. Performers include Wesleyan faculty and student dancers plus the Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church Choir.

The structured, narrative-based piece asks questions about place, community and self-awareness. “This project,” according to a press release, “is rooted in a multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary conception of renaissance, and evokes the moving body as a site of memory, recollection and departure.”

“Storied Places: A Renaissance Project” is performed twice, Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16, at 8 p.m. in Wesleyan’s CFA Theater, 271 Washington Terrace, Middletown. Tickets are $10, $5 for Wesleyan students. Information: 860-685-3355, wesleyan.edu/boxoffice.
