“Book of Mormon” makes its fourth visit to Connecticut, Sept. 26 to Oct. 1 at the Shubert, 247 College St., New Haven.
The “Book of Mormon” sold out every night of its two-week run at the Shubert two years ago. The male stars in this second national tour are the same as when “Book of Mormon” was at The Bushnell last year: Gabe Gibbs as Elder Price and Conner Peirson as Elder Cunningham. The new Nabulungi is Myha’la Herrold. Kenny Francoeur, who grew up in Manchester, is still on board as the tour’s Dance Captain and “swing” performer. ‘All Islands’
Ping Chong is the embodiment of postmodern performance. A writer, director, performer, puppeteer, installationist, choreographer and video artist, he’s capable of grand-scale multimedia epics but also intimate solo turns.
Chong, who just brought his cultural consciousness-raising show “Beyond Sacred — Voices of Muslim Identity” to Wesleyan University in July, returns to the campus at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 with “All Islands Connect Under Water.” The piece is described as a “lecture with media” in which Ping Chong will “discuss his career in relation to the evolving political and cultural movements of the past five decades.” The performance is free, held in the Ring Family Performing Arts Hall, Wesleyan Center for the Arts, 287 Washington Terrace, Middletown. 860-685-3355 and wesleyan.edu/cfa/.
‘Momma’s Boy’
“Momma’s Boy” is a soulful comedy by Priest Tyaire inspired by the John Singleton film “Baby Boy.” The play’s national tour is stocked with sitcom stars Jackee Harry and Robin Givens; soul/R&B talents Tony Grant, Cheryl Pepsii Riley, Gary “Lil G” Jenkins and Shirley Murdock; and radio comedian Nephew Tommy.

Lippy Lips Lives!
Shopkins are tiny dolls that resemble groceries and other consumer goods. They have names like Jessicake, Bubbleisha, Lippy Lips and Kooky Cookie. The toys led to a cartoon series, which led to a live theater show.
