“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” still has life in it.

First it was at Hartford Stage, which staged the homicidal musical’s premiere in 2012. Then it went to the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and then Broadway, where it ran for more than two years and won several Tonys, including Best Musical.

There was an Equity national tour that visited Hartford last year. Now there’s a new, non-Equity tour coming to Waterbury’s Palace Theater on Oct. 20 and 21 starring Blake Price as Monty Navarro and James Taylor Odom as the many members of the D’Ysquith family who stand in the way of Monty’s inheritance.

Darko Tresnjak, who directed every previous version of the show, has passed the directing reins to the original choreographer, Peggy Hickey. At Hartford Stage, Hickey also choreographed “Kiss Me, Kate” and “Anastasia.”

“Peggy expressed interest in moving into directing,” Tresnjak said in a phone interview last month.

A new national tour of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is at the Palace in Waterbury Oct. 20 and 21.

“I didn’t even know this tour was going to happen. But it is based on my production.” He was able to consult on it. “I got to see one run-through.”

“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” is a breezy, cutthroat comedy, with such songs as “A Warning to the Audience,” “Why Are All the D’Ysquiths Dying?” and “Stop! Wait! What?!”

A GENTLEMEN’S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER stops at the Palace Theater, 100 E. Main St., Waterbury, Oct. 20 and 21. Performances are Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. $57.50 to $95.50. 203-346-2000 and palacetheaterct.org.
