The issue-driven local modern dance company TNMOT AZTRO performed the first installment of “Black Boy Jungle” last year at Town & Country Club. Part Two is now ready, and debuting at the same location at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23.

The piece, choreographed by TNMOT-AZTRO founder Adrien Wilkerson, “addresses the issue of cultural misrepresentation and generalization, acquired through both public schooling and our consumer-driven society.”

“Black Boy Jungle” is a multi-media experience involving dance, live and recorded music, costumes, projections and photography. Tickets are $30, $25 online in advance. The Town & Country Club is at 22 Woodland St., Hartford. Information: tnmotaztro.com.

Rubbernecking

The Canadian dance/movement troupe RUBBERBANDance Group performs the U.S. premiere of its self-reflexive piece “Vic’s Mix” at Wesleyan’s CFA Theater, on the university campus at 283 Washington Terrace, Middletown, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21.

The “Vic” in question is the company’s founder and co-artistic director Victor Quijada, who works with diverse dance elements ranging from hip-hop to ballet, scored to composers as diverse as Bach and DJ Jasper Gahunia. Tickets are $28. 860-685-3355, wesleyan.edu.
