New England natives dominate the comedy clubs this week.
Emma Willmann, who’s from Maine, has become a New York fixture, performing at clubs throughout the city and making her late-night TV stand-up debut on Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” in 2016. She was named to “Ten Funniest” Lists by the Carolines comedy festival and Time Out New York. She’s also been on a slew of radio show, from “A Prairie Home Companion” to her own SiriusXM program “The Check Spot.” Willmann’s at the Comix Club, on the grounds of Mohegan Sun casino, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville, for four shows July 12-14: Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 7 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $15-$45. 860-862-7000, mohegansun.com
Juston McKinney
Juston McKinney grew up on the Maine/New Hampshire border, where he worked for a while as a deputy sheriff, but he’s been performing stand-up comedy for more than 20 years now. McKinney also created the web series “Hosed,” about volunteer firefighters in New Hampshire, a state whose motto he has rephrased as “Live, Freeze, Then Die.” Homespun yet outraged, McKinney is at the Funny Bone Club, 194 Buckland Hills Dr. Suite #1054 in Manchester for five sets July 13 to 15: Friday and Saturday at both 7:30 and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. 860-432-8600, hartford.funnybone.com.
