BANGOR
MAYOR
Term: 4 years
(Vote for one)
REPUBLICAN
JOSEPH H. CAPOZZOLO
D.O.B.: 5/29/63
Education: Pius X High School, 1981; attended Moravian College
Occupation: Vice President, Windjammer, Inc.Qualifications: Businessman in Bangor for over 15 years; Married 11 years with 4 children; Experience in development and subdivisions.
Response: Taxes! Bangor Boro has the highest tax rate in Northampton County. We need to slash spending and expand the tax base. If we brought more tax-paying business into town, a lot of our smaller problems would be easier to handle. I intend to run the town more like a business, to give the residents the most for their tax dollars.

We need to be open to the voice of the people with decisions openly arrived at. Air pollution needs serious pursuit. The most important issue I will address is the revitalization of our business district. No wonder businesses leave. Appearance is everything, and ours is appearing very run down. Sorry to let the people of Wind Gap know, but taxes will be going up or no roads will be done again. Roads in Wind Gap have not been touched in five years. Response: I believe the best thing for the Borough of Wind Gap starting in 2002 is to hire a borough manager, initiate full time police coverage 24 hours a day 7 days a week and probably the most challenging of all is to get our street program up and running whereas we will be upgrading our streets every year either by paving, reclamation or general maintenance.
