Pumpkin Pie Martini

Ingredients: Goldschlager, Kahlua, Bailey's, cinnamon sugar rim

The Iron Frog is a cozy little joint in Simsbury, and before you ask, yes, there is a back story involving the name and five women from Nantucket who stole an iron frog and traveled it around the country, Roaming Gnome style, documenting its journeys.  Allegedly, a similar incident occurred with one of the many iron frog figurines who call the restaurant home when it first opened.  The bar staff will be happy to regale you with the exact tale when you are sipping your autumn themed cocktail.  Should you choose the Pumpkin Pie Martini, you can expect a smooth, creamy concoction which is quite reminiscent of the pie, even though it does not contain any actual pumpkin flavor.  The Goldshlager has a decent, tart bite, but it is offset by the pairing of smooth and rich liqueurs which accompany it.  The suggested pairing for this from the bar menu is certainly Tyler's Tots.  Inspired by a local chef, these fancy 'tots feature: feta cheese crumbles, lemon juice, and Kalamata olives to dress them up.  This cocktail would also work well as an after dinner liquid dessert, depending on your preference.
