The American flag takes on a new form when viewed through the context of war. Greg Phy of Westport was inspired by the hunt for Bin Laden, and battles in Iraq and Afghanistan, and his reaction was to produce images of flags whose colors were upended much like the people's lives who fought under its patriotic spell. His works are oils and acrylics on canvas, but also giclee reproductions and prints mounted in plexiglass. The show is called After the Hunt, and it's at the Nylen Gallery at Picture this through Halloween, with a reception this Saturday.
