What's happening with eCourant, the Electronic Edition of the Hartford Courant?
The Courant is changing over to a new display system designed to enhance your experience using eCourant. The new system includes advanced display technologies that provide improved functionality and readability for our digital edition newspaper.
Why did eCourant change?
We've changed the display to improve your experience viewing the printed newspaper online. In addition to the standard features that were in the older system, the new display system offers Google translation capability in 200+ languages, as well as real time breaking news.
How will I access the new electronic edition?
We will be sending you an daily email notification with an NIE URL that looks something like this:
Simply click on the link. You are also welcome to set up a shortcut to this URL on your classroom computers to access eCourant.
I can't find the NIE login page? What happened to it?
We've removed the login area from the NIE website because you will not need a username nor password to acces this new electronic edition. It is very easy now, if you just type in the URL in your Internet Address bar or click on a desktop URL shortcut, you will get access.
I would like to create a bookmark. What do I need to do?
All you need to do is type the URL into your web browser's internet address location bar, then create your bookmark.
I've created a bookmark and still not able to view the eCourant. What's wrong?
You may be typing in the wrong NIE URL. Be sure the URL configuration you are trying to bookmark looks similar to this:
I have many computers in my classroom. May I use this URL?
Yes. You are welcome to distribute the URL provided to you to be used within your classroom computers. All you need to do is to create a desktop shortcut with the URL on each computer used to veiw eCourant.
Do I need Adobe Flash?
Yes. In order to view the new eCourant, your web browser will need the latest Adobe Flash plug-in installed. Our new display technology used Adobe Flash. To have Adobe Flash installed on your computer, please contact your school's Information Technology Department to have your computer classroom environment upgraded.
I am not getting my daily email notifications. What do I do?
Your daily email notifications from us might be detected through your school's email system. These emails might be flagged as junk email or marketing mail. You'll need to work with your school's IT Department to identify these daily email notifications not be considered to be marketing mail. If you are using web based mail services for your daily email notifications such as Yahoo, HotMail, or GMail, you'll need to view your Junk Mail folders.
I don't want to receive the daily email notifications. Can I get off this list?
Yes. On the daily email notification, there an unsubscribe at the bottom of the notification. Please make sure that you have created your desktop shortcut/bookmark before you unsubscribe.
