Connecticut Fusion softball is a fun way for girls in grades 5-7 to fine-tune their skills in the winter to prepare for the upcoming softball season.
Joel Boarden, head manager of CT Fusion, told us that it is also a good way to get involved and get to know the families of the players a little better. "It's my favorite sport, and it's really fun to be a part of the team,"
Trinity Lennon, CT Fusion player said the team works on teamwork and game-like situations so that when the softball season comes, and they are against good competitors, they know what to do and how to react.
The program practices at the North Stonington Health Center in the sports performance wing. "Bringing the girls inside and learning technique is very, very important to all of us," said Boarden, explaining the benefits of a program with an indoor facility.
The girls really enjoy spending time with Boarden and the other assistant coaches, and working on their techniques so that when the season begins, they are ready to work. This gives the girls and advantage when the season finally comes since they have been practicing all winter.
One of the advantages of the indoor facility is that the girls don't have to worry about the always-changing winter weather. CT Fusion is an all around great program for off-season training.
