Violence and crime in schools are events everyone seeks to prevent. Events such as the Newtown, Columbine or Virginia Tech shootings, and many peer to peer theft cases continue to happen regardless of those efforts.
In response to these events, many schools have adopted a school police and security task force dedicated to keeping their students safe.
In Hartford, Connecticut, students from Sport and Medical Sciences Academy are working towards helping their own local school security force. They are developing training videos to simulate numerous situations that many new officer recruits may witness in the school zone, and by this, they are helping prevent many school related conflicts such as Facebook rumor spreading or bullying.
Normally unaware of many of the issues surrounding today’s generation of teens, these videos help these officers learn more about those they are working to protect, and allows them to make a plan of action before actually witnessing these events in real-time.
