A Teacher Uses Red Pens To Help Students And Syria

Red Pens, everyone has used them, especially teachers. But one teacher takes their love for red pens to a whole different level. This teachers name is Dylan Connor.

Mr. Connor is a Latin teacher at Bunnell High School in Stratford ,Connecticut. His style of teaching differs from many of the teachers here at Bunnell high school. He keeps his students interested in his lessons by incorporating music and the usefulness of office supplies, specifically red pens.

Mr Connor said, “I incorporate red pens in most of my lessons, and probably do a song or whatever to celebrate the awesomeness of the red pen in general. So then in class we take out our homework, take out our red pens because I think correcting your own work is as important as doing it. Its giving students responsibility and ownership.

In fact, Mr. Connor is so much of an enthusiast he even dedicated part of his room to his red pens. He has a showcase for all of his favorite red pens, and he is also starting a red pen graveyard.

I like his class cause he's really spontaneous and he keeps the energy level pretty high...”

Furthermore, Mr. Connor uses his musical ability to get kids to better understand his lessons.

He also is a preforming musician who uses his music not only as a way to have a good time, but raises money and awareness for the revolution in Syria too.

Mr. Connor says, “I wrote a song, I made a video, that people can download the song and all the money goes to Syria. I organized a fundraiser in New York City, raised $12,000 to help Syrians get better medical supplies."

Creative music coupled with his love of red pens equals a very educational class, where students can go to learn but to also have a good time in the process.
