You can catch Rachel's forecasts on the FOX CT News at 4, 5, 10 and 11. Rachel won the 2011 Emmy for Best Weathercaster in New England. This was her first Emmy nomination and win.
Rachel joined FOXCT in October 2008 from WFMZ in Allentown, PA where she was the weekend meteorologist. Prior to that, she spent two years as the weekend meteorologist at WICU in Erie, PA. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Rachel received her bachelor's degree in Meteorology with a focus on forecasting. She graduated with honors, as a member of Chi Epsilon Pi, the National Meteorological Honors Society.
Middle school was where Rachel first caught the weather "bug," when she was enlisted to complete a project on clouds. Says Rachel, "I learned on a basic level how looking at the clouds can be a helpful tool in forecasting. Since my head was 'always in the clouds' anyway, I decided I might as well learn more about meteorology." She dubs herself a "weather geek" and is constantly learning new techniques to improve her forecasting skills.
During her free time, Rachel enjoys hiking, biking, scuba diving, snowboarding, traveling and calls herself a "foodie". She loves to attend classes at her local Crossfit gym and recently completed Tough Mudder, a 10 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces.
She also loves animals. In fact, Rachel and her fiance have a small zoo at their house with two cats, a dog and a turtle!
Rachel is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
