Jan Carabeo joined Fox CT in January 2012 as a morning reporter. She gets up at 2am, goes to sleep at 6pm and drinks a lot of coffee in between.
Jan comes to Connecticut from the Empire State where her reports took her everywhere from the Southern Tier to the North Country.
Before joining Fox CT, she was a reporter and fill-in anchor at WSYR-TV in Syracuse. No stranger to cold and snowy winters, Jan spent the majority of her time from November through March every year reporting from giant snow banks and pothole-riddled roadways.
Also while in Central New York, Jan took the lead in covering the massive floods and clean-up efforts after Tropical Storm Lee blew through the Northeast.
She got her start in broadcasting just an hour south of Syracuse in Binghamton, New York. She did it all - shot, edited, wrote and reported - at WIVT-TV. The only one in the newsroom at the time, Jan helped her station get coverage of the American Civic Association massacre off the ground. For weeks, she found herself reporting on the gunman and the 13 people he shot to death.
Jan is a Terp, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Maryland. She was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., and no matter how tough the season is going, she'll never stop rooting for the Redskins.
Jan is excited about her new adventure in Connecticut. You can follow her on Facebook
