POSITION: Morning News Executive Producer

REPORTS TO: News Director
ROLE: Responsible for ensuring the creative execution and content focus of the morning newscasts, working in the country's most innovative multi-platform newsroom. Helps implement, on a daily basis, the strategies developed by the News Director and Assistant News Director to improve the news product and to make the station No. 1 in news viewers.

ROLE: Responsible for ensuring the creative execution and content focus of the morning newscasts, working in the country's most innovative multi-platform newsroom. Helps implement, on a daily basis, the strategies developed by the News Director and Assistant News Director to improve the news product and to make the station No. 1 in news viewers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise morning team including anchors, reporters, photographers, producers, production team, and assignment desk
- Strong journalism background understanding what makes news and what our viewers find interesting
- All script approval including working with reporters on packages and live shot production
- Assign live reporters to key stories for news coverage
- Understanding of ratings and demographics
- Overall knowledge of libel laws and FCC compliance
- Collaborate with promotions team
- Work closely with digital team using all social media including Facebook, Twitter, Websites to enhance content
- Support content with appropriate graphics and video
- Perform performance evaluations on the morning team
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities
- Meet daily with booking producer and approve guest appearances
- Produce special reports when needed
- Supervise daily post-production meeting with entire morning team
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or broadcast journalism or equivalent related experience
- Minimum four years line-producing experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills and a keen attention to detail essential
- Ability to be a leader in the newsroom and motivate others under deadline pressure
- Work hours are largely overnight shift
