WTIC/WCCT - TV POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Accountant

DATE: 5/2/11

DEPARTMENT: Finance

REPORTS TO: Controller

ROLE: This position is responsible for assisting in the general accounting functions relating to the WTIC-TV/WCCT-TV business unit as well as assigned regional duties. Areas of responsibilities include daily log reconciliation, general ledger, A/P, month-end close, and assistance in budgeting process.



RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reconciliation of daily program logs for Hartford stations
  • Back-up for reconciliation of daily program logs for regional business units
  • Coordinate and monitor approval/routing of invoices through OnBase to ensure payments processed in timely manner
  • Respond to A/P inquiries from vendors
  • Prepare & input journal entries for the monthly closing
  • Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, as assigned
  • Assist in preparation of various monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Comply with requests for information from Corporate
  • Assist in annual Plan process
  • Position requires performance of other job related duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Detail oriented
  • BS in Accounting/Finance
  • 2+ years experience in general accounting
  • PC literate with proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft financial software helpful but not required


REVENUE/BUDGETARY/STAFF RESPONSIBILITY Supervisory role in day-to-day accounting functions
