Hartford, CT - According to the ratings reports for the recent May sweep, the FOX CT Morning News showed significant growth over last year and the News at Ten Monday - Friday remains a Late News leader finishing number two in Households and number one in demos.
"Since the creation of Connecticut's Newsroom, our news stories have grown considerably in depth and quality. The ratings demonstrate that our viewers are seeing this first hand and are tuning in, especially in the morning," said Richard Graziano vice president and general manager of WTIC/WTXX-TV and publisher, president & CEO of the Hartford Courant. "This is a testament to the hard work and dedication our team puts into their work every day."
The FOX CT Morning News program continues to make major gains, whether competing with other local news or network news. 5 - 7 a.m. was up +48% and 7 - 9 a.m. increased +39% over last year's Morning News for those time periods. And the News at 11a also is experiencing an upward trend with a 156% increase in audience share as compared to last year this time.
The News at Ten, long the market audience leader, and News at Eleven, remained steady, maintaining last year's audience for both broadcasts.
WTIC-TV boasts the largest television news team in Connecticut and plans to expand its news offerings by adding a one hour newscast at 4 p.m. Between WTIC and WTXX-TV, the two stations currently provide 36.5 hours of news each week to viewers in the Hartford/New Haven DMA.
