(Hartford) FOX CT announced today that it's adding a new broadcast to its lineup - the FOX CT News at 4 p.m. with Rachel Lutzker as host. She will be joined by Anchor Brent Hardin on the news desk and Chief Meteorologist Garett Argianas. The show premieres today, Monday, August 23 at 4 p.m. out of Connecticut's Newsroom.
"Rachel is a natural fit for host of the 4 p.m. show. She resonates with our early-morning audience and viewers will be happy to see her in the afternoons as well," said Richard Graziano vice president and general manager of WTIC/WTXX-TV and publisher, president & CEO of the Hartford Courant. "Adding Brent on the news desk and Garett in the weather center makes a great team for this broadcast."
The new show will air Monday through Friday from 4 to 5 p.m., offering more local content from Connecticut's Newsroom and more interaction with viewers than ever before. In her role as host, Lutzker will be the link between the audience and the broadcast - introducing segments that feature non-news people and their opinions, reading viewer comments and discussing the top web stories.
The show will also feature useful information for moms such as things to do with the family and how to save money. And viewers can count on seeing more video and hearing from a diverse group of people throughout the broadcast.
"The 4 p.m. show gives viewers an earlier look at the news and weather here in Connecticut. But what really sets the broadcast apart from others is that it also lets the audience see and hear what ordinary people are doing, thinking and saying across the state - a great alternative to a traditional newscast," said Jeffrey Levine, senior vice president and director of content for CT1 Media and FOX CT.
WTIC-TV is the leading local news gathering operation in the state. With the addition of the 4 p.m. broadcast, FOX CT will provide 41.5 hours of news each week to viewers in the Hartford/New Haven area, more than any other station in the market.
